Comez Knitting Machine Operator
Reports To: Focus Factory Manager
The primary purpose of this position is to set up, operate and maintain Comez Knitting Machines, producing quality transducer belts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Monitor Machine Performance
2. Replenish Raw Materials as Needed
3. Wind Material
4. Train New Personnel on Comez Knitting Machines
5. Pre-Operation Maintenance
6. Machine Start Up
7. Clerical Work
-Maintain daily production counts of all machines, copy Focus Factory Manager for recording
8. Maintain Clean Work Environment
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma preferred
- General knowledge of production practices and ISO
- Mechanical aptitude as asset, with machine maintenance ability
- Able to work independently
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE:
This position requires interaction with co-workers, other staff and Focus Factory Manager on a daily basis to receive instructions/communicate acceptance, and to seek, clarify, exchange or provide information. It also requires interaction with Maintenance and Technical Services on a weekly basis to seek, clarify, exchange or provide information.
Complexity/Solution of Work Problems
Repetitive work, following clearly prescribed standard practice on a routine basis and involving straight forward application of readily understood rules and procedures. May make minor decisions, requiring, judgment in applying rules and procedures within the limits of standard practice. Problems are usually resolved quickly.
Scope and Impact of Responsibility
This machine affects approximately thirty (30) people when the product is being processed. The belts and straps produced on the Comez machines are of the highest quality, and are much better than the corometric, generic or nylon belts being purchased. Because the Comez machines are the first stage of production, it is important to maintain good quality control. For every problem that continues through production, the cutters, sewers and packagers lose time and raw material. This position is responsible for personal safety and personal safety while working on machinery. They are indirectly responsible for utilization of quality materials, for efficient output of final product while ensuring a high standard of quality product.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

- Detailed hand/finger movements

Working Conditions//Environment
When exposed to noise, it is fairly low and not uncomfortable. It requires the use of a calculator, light duty machines, and drills on a frequent basis, and heavy duty machines on a constant basis. This position requires constant eye concentration – when looking at yarn there is a lot of strain on eye muscles and working in a white environment with fluorescent lighting is hard on the eyes. It requires constant hearing and mental concentration, as they are constantly listening for various machines to ensure proper operation and solving problems with the machine. Action and attention in accident prevention is also required as there are several exposed areas of moving parts while the machine is operating and they are frequently climbing the ladder with spools of yarn.
